Spanish Fork Happenings February 2026

February 2026 - Spanish Fork Happenings

FroYo is planning on opening the week of Valentines Day.  They are located at 1106 N Canyon Creek Pkwy #3 next to Aubergine Kitchen.

The Spanish Fork LDS temple location was announced on January 12th and will be built at 100 S 2550 E just south of Maple Mountain High School. It will sit on 8.7 acres and will be approximately 80,000 sq ft on multiple stories.

Spanish Fork University is open for enrollment.  It’s a 10 week class where you get to see behind the scenes of how the city works.  Details here: https://www.spanishfork.gov/residents/getinvolved.php#SFU

Fire Station 61 is currently located on Main Street and 400 N and will be rebuilt on 200 W and Center Street. The design details and funding will be finalized soon with the new station planning to open Fall 2027.  Spanish Fork city does not plan to raise taxes to fund this project.

In a recent city meeting, a detailed update was presented on the Provo Subdivision railroad consolidation project, which aims to merge two parallel lines (one near Spanish Fork/Mapleton, one along Highways 51/6). After a decade of discussion, the project is now viable. Federal and state funding (approx. $7-8 million) has been secured for environmental studies and a 30% design, specifically for evaluating the removal of the western rail line near Highway 6. Though not guaranteed, the project is a realistic possibility within the next 7-10 years. This generational infrastructure effort will significantly improve safety, connectivity, and quality of life, allowing for crossing upgrades and potentially establishing quiet zones to eliminate train horn noise between Spanish Fork and Mapleton.

Since Winter has skipped Utah this year, you can start working on your Spring yard clean up sooner than later.  For your free green waste vouchers, go to: https://www.spanishfork.gov/departments/public_works/garbage/green_waste.php

The new Dry Creek Parkway freeway exit is planned to be completed by June 2026.  Stay tuned for more information as that date grows closer.

In a surprising turn of events, residents completely forgot about their roundabout grievances and focused solely on the current temperature of the fit center pool.  The city is aware of this and has found the ideal temperature of 86 degrees makes every single resident happy.

The theme for the 2026 Fiesta Days will be “At the Heart of It All.” The celebration will coincide with the 250th anniversary of the United States and will incorporate that into the Fiesta Days celebration and merchandise.  Speaking of Spanish Fork merch…Post Malone sang a tribute song honoring the life of Ozzy Osborne and was seen wearing a Spanish Fork Fiesta Days Rodeo hat on national tv.  The city has had a surge of interest in the hat and is said to have ordered more for purchase.

Spring Fever seems to be hitting the real estate market early! We’re seeing a significant increase in buyer activity, with more mortgage applications and an upward trend in home showings. The good news for buyers is that rates remain steady, and sellers are still offering incentives like covering closing costs or providing funds for rate buy-downs, which can make your monthly payments even more manageable.
